| As a native New Yorker, you couldn’t help but to
hold your breath, if you were watching the television around 9:20am (EST) on
September 11, 2001, regardless of location. This day will forever change the
way we all look within oneself and each other. I knew that this day will be
monumental and will impact, not just NYers, but all human beings on the face
of the earth. Being an Air Force Veteran, the first thing that popped up in
my mind was to re-enter into military service, but my family obligations and
the responsibilities that come with it, one can only wonder why. My journey
to the Schwinn-Towers started on that tragedic day. After a long
conversation with my family, I pondered with the thoughts of how can one
soldier make a difference and acknowledging the symbolic monuments that the
Twin Towers represented in our lives, especially as a proud New Yorker.
One’s destiny manifests itself in different ways. How many of us whose lives
have been changed dramatically since that day? How can one make a statement
that truly represents our values, our vision and the dreams that all of us
have hidden somewhere in the microscopic corner of our left brain cells but
never felt the motivation to bring it forth. For me, two pillars of steel
that would erect from the ground would come to shape the way I envision the
towers... |
